caleb @ toca social. actually bothered to organise a lad's day out. this was fun in spite of grant's flaking.

more toca -- alfie on the ball. this is where i learned the point and shoot film camera really has its limitations. viewfinder doesn't match up with the shutter, so all the snaps came out askew. had to crop out ethan to make this acceptable.

resolved to get an slr for better framing: pentax k1000 incoming.

shooting landscapes, surprisingly, is where the clear shot really shines. the colours look great & the lack of subject negates framing & focus issues.

here, i'm at my favourite spot in norham, sat by the river tweed where i like to meditate. the sound of the river is pure peace.

more tweed. it's a shame it was overcast. this spot in the sun is heaven. in the distance the river forks, washing over the rocks, sending a soft susurrance to those near enough to listen.

view atop echo bridge, which i've dubbed such given if one stands beneath it & claps, they are greeted w. a trippy delay reverberating back to their ears.

the tweed again, but this time in paxton. used to come & skim stones w. mum here. it's changed since i used to come. there are weeds on the bank & it smells funny.

learned that as a single man w. a film camera, i look mental. think my presence was concerning for a couple of ladies who were taking their sen boy out for a trip.

eyemouth bay. i meditated on migration & classism. essentially, illegal immigration has unified disparate white british subgroups due to a common enemy: the migrant worker, usually distinguished through their skin colour (not always -- think poles circa 2002). were there no migrants, white britons would remain fractured since there always has to be someone used as a scapegoat for society's ills & with no migrants, working class whites would, once more, be bottom of the pile.

sadly, i realised this in eyemouth because there was no racial diversity, but instead what would quite clearly be considered a 'lower class' of white briton.

had to leave the place & drive to mum's.

bud up close, again iterating to me the need for greater control of focus & aperture. looking forward to the arrival of my new camera. that said, i still like the shot.

mum à la kfc. as per the earlier landscapes, portraits from this distance also allow the camera to shine -- some cropping was, however, necessary.

behind me is buddy. i had to shoot this dreaded channel where he drags me for one of his morning shits. have an irrational hatred for it. i think it is something to do with the road next to it. seems like such an undignified place to deposit one's bum rubbish.

mcdonald's & a film in days inn after driving scotland to stafford in one sitting. i like the modern tech being snapped by a vintage camera.
